The Next Step

Acts 17: 24-28
"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist."

NICS Website
In the beginning of March, I applied for an organization called NICS, which has 20 schools in 16 countries.  The Lord really showed his provision and sovereignty throughout the whole application process.

There were three things that the Lord did that were way beyond my own strength as he affirmed his plan for me with NICS.  1. My great friend, Laura, is on church staff with the placement specialist.  2.  A Cultivate Retreat was booked since October 2010, where I would already be in Southaven, Mississippi (the location of NICS) in April.  3.  I went on a last minute medical mission trip to Peru with DeSoto Hills, the church where alot of the NICS leadership attends.  I don't know if the application process could have been any easier or clearer.
Brasilia International School

After 4 interviews and numerous emails back and forth with NICS, I have been offered a two year contract to teach 3rd & 4th grade and also Special Education at Brasília International School in Brasília, Brazil.  The school is made up of 94% international students and 6% missionary students.  Most of the student body consists of Brazilian diplomatic community.  The school is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association of Christian School International (ACSI).

I will be heading off to Brasília on July 31st.  Until then, please be praying for the following needs:

1. Finishing the school year strong working for DallasISD
2. The Lord move in a mighty way this summer as I lead worship and teach the Gospel at various pre-teen camps My Camp Schedule
3. Attaining a work visa
4. Learning the new school's curriculum before I leave the U.S.
5. A smooth transition for myself, my family, and my friends
6. Finding an awesome, godly family to live with
7. Language Acquisition (Portuguese)
8. Raising prayer and financial support Email me for more info...

Although I am very excited, nervous, and overwhelmed all at the same time, I know Isaiah 41:10 says, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

And... as a the old hymn says:

He didn't bring us this far to leave us.
He didn't teach us to swim to let us drown.
He didn't build His home is us to move away.
He didn't lift us up to let us down.

Clinging to his promises,

Dawna "Dreds" Duke
