So, the title is pretty self explanatory. Today, my mom and I woke up SUPER early and drove to Houston to get my visa! Although much time, anticipation, driving and a few tears went into the whole process, we were blessed by an amazingly smooth experience with the Brazilian Consulate. We went in, they called me up, they asked me a few questions, and about 20 minutes later... CHA-CHING!
I could not hold my smile back. The time I spent with my mom was so great. She was very encouraging that although she is fearful, she is supportive. She knows that my life is not in my hands, or hers, but God's. So true. He has called me there. He will provide. He will teach.
Lesson #1: Be Patient. (I thought I was leaving August 1st...)
Thank you for all of your prayers and support and encouraging emails, Facebook messages and posts, and kind words! I have been so blessed to have such amazing friends and family. I have enjoyed the countless meals and conversations that I have gotten to share with my close friends lately, and although I will miss each of you dearly, I know that our communication will have to be intentional. We may not talk as frequently, but the times in which we do will be so sweet. I am praying for God to prepare my heart and mind to align with that which he wants to teach me this semester.
I leave on Sunday, August 21 evening and will arrive in Brasilia on Monday afternoon! Please pray for safe travel, smooth transition (emotionally, socially, linguistically, financially, educationally, and any more -ly words that would fit appropriately into this phase of my life), and for my 3rd & 4th grade class. My class is made up of 15 students from literally ALL OVER THE WORLD! I am so excited to start the new school year with them. My class represents Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, North America, Russia, and more. Continue to pray for my classroom leadership and influence on these kids and their families. I totally understand the great privilege and responsibility that I have been given and long to please God throughout all of the hard times, funny times, and amazing times!
I also want to share some of the great quotes and stories that I experience over the next 2 years! For example, QUOTE OF THE DAY:" "Man, I really need braces. My teeth are cricket." This made me smile!
Till next time,
