Juggling
I love to juggle. I took a free class at Gold's Gym a couple summers ago and learned a couple of basic tricks. It is a great attention getter for my students when they are off task, and a fun hobby of mine.
The other night, I was juggling in the kitchen, but I forgot my juggling balls at school, so I was using two limes and an orange. Mia, the four year-old that I live with in Brazil, really wanted to juggle too.
Mia went and got two limes from the fruit basket and started throwing them up, and as most 4 year olds haven't mastered catching, Mia couldn't quite get the hang of juggling right away. The limes would go up, and ker-plunk on the tile floor milliseconds later.
"Mia, I learned how to juggle using socks. You should go get socks. Then, you won't drop the limes and have 'limonada' on the floor."
"Ok." She ran off for a couple of minutes.
Jessica and I continued talking in the kitchen about life.
When Mia returned, she picked up the 2 limes again. Jessica and I looked at each other and then at Mia, and asked Mia, "Where are your socks? Isn't that what you went to get?"
"They are right here," she responded.
Then, we looked at her feet. She had two socks on.
Chicken
Chicken is a pretty normal meal at our house. We buy a rotisserie chicken from a man in the market and come home and eat it with rice and vegetables. It's actually one of my favorite meals.
The other day, Mia was eating a big chicken leg and Jessica looked over at her and said,
"Mia, did you know that chicken had to die for you to eat him now?"
Then, Mia replied,
"He wanted to."
Romans 7:15
"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate to do."

Mia aka "Shark Girl" |
One day, Mia kept on getting in trouble. She wasn't having a good day. I don't even remember what she did, but Jessica told her,
"Mia, you need to at least try to be good."
Then, Mia said, "Mommy, I want to be good. I want to do good things. But, my brain tells my body to do bad things that are not what I want to do."
Yep. Even four year-olds understand Paul in Romans 7:15.
I think I know someone just like Mia! I love her! She is wonderful! Love you, too, girl! We miss Dreds!!!!!
