"Do Not Fear What Can Only Take The Body, But What Can Take The Soul And The Body."

Birthday Celebration!
Last week, the 3rd - 6th graders in my chapel group were extremely blessed to have a guest speaker come share about her recent experience going to love some people in a comyounist country.  When she got there, she had to leave her cell phone, computer, identification, and passport in the airport.  The group was only allowed to go places with their guides, even to the bathroom!  The group was able to make some friends at different locations and obtain some special permission to travel to 4 other cities.  In this place, traveling to other cities is a great privilege, especially for natives.  She also shared that this country only has one channel on television and it only talks about political things.

The kids were shocked by the amount of control that the authorities have over the people.  They asked our friend if people have ever tried to escape and she said that if they try to escape, the person is threatened that their family that they leave behind will be killed.  Although the country is very closed, our friend was frequently in awe of the beauty of this place.  She was constantly in prayer that the people of this country will see their Creator in His creation.  She also showed some pictures of the statues of the present and late emperors of the country.  The citizens were taking flowers and bowing down to the statues.

She ended her presentation by sharing about a JC follower and leader shown in the picture on the left.  He was recently arrested and imprisoned for sharing the Good News with people from this country.  Since his arrest, no one has heard anything from him or about him.  Please pray for his safety.

Not coincidental at all!  The next day in my Social Studies class, my lesson was on comyounism.  My kids discussed their opinions of the type of government and their call as followers of JC to these people groups.  One of my students that has become a follower of JC remembered what we learned in our WoG class and said, "Our call is to make disciples," and then quoted this text:

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Matt. 10:28

Please pr@y that we will make disciples wherever we are.
