"Miss Duke... Why Don't You Have A Boyfriend?"

My Class on Biography Day

I hear this question too much and don't really know how to respond.  Most of the time, it is brought up by the parents of my 3rd and 4th graders.  Typically, I say, "Well, I am just waiting for God's timing."

"Miss Duke, Why don't you have a boyfriend?  In this whole country of Brazil, I'm sure the Brazilians would love a blonde girl like you."

We made "Sapo," a Peruvian game in class.  

Last week, we made frogs (as shown in the picture) for International Fair and my students continued this discussion.

"Miss Duke, I named my frog Duke.  You can kiss my frog and he will turn into your Prince Charming." -Student #1

"Well... He won't turn into a prince, but he'll like it." - Student #2
